Word count
Seeing as it is 2:45 AM I am just writing a quick note on my word count. I am officially at 36,154. I hope to hit 50,000 by the end of the month.

I voted today. Did you?
I’m surprised by myself at how passionate I’ve become about voting.
I loved this post by Janet Reid: http://jetreidliterary.blogspot.com/2008/11/election-day.html

National Novel Writing Month
So, November is national novel writing month. It’s a month where you’re supposed to write a 50,000 word novel in a month. It will probably be crap but that isn’t the point.
I am participating this year but doing it slightly differently. My goal is to write 30,000 on my book. It’s 1,000 words a night which is doable. So far I have gone above 1,000 every night. The cool thing is when I am done with this my story will be a whopping 46,500 words. That’s like half a novel! Wahoo.

The brick wall of doom
Haha. okay maybe not of doom but I seem to have hit a brick wall. I’m at a point in my story I don’t know what else I want to happen. So what do I do? Work on other stories. Haha. Don’t know if I’ll ever get the main done or not. I think I understand why it takes years to write a book.
So in total nonbook related news I’ve started eating a lot healthier. Cutting back on processed foods and putting in a lot of fresh food. Means I’m spending about double the time in the kitchen then I did before but I think my body will thank me for it later.
Two of my new favorite shows: The Biggest Loser on NBC and You are What You Eat on BBCAmerica.
Sorry about the length between the last post and this one. Hopefully will be back to my writing self soon.

Taking a break and finding my niche
I’m taking a break from my main work to get my creative juices flowing. I’m working on some of my smaller projects for a while.
Of course I stumbled on this today:

My novel is pretty much all YA Historical. Now, I estimate me finishing in the next year of two. I wonder if it will still be “hot” then. I can’t worry too much or I will drive myself insane.

Too many ideas at once.
Sometimes there are just too many ideas in my head and they’re all trying to get written. Almost like in a class of three year olds and you ask for a volunteer to pass out snack. Everyone is jumping up and down going “pick me pick me!” Haha. I wish I was kidding.
I hit 12,000 words last night. Yay!
I think as a writer of historical fiction research is one of the hardest things to do. Especially for me where my story centers around a concentration camp. There is only so much reading a person can do about this stuff before there is a threat of possible insanity. The things humans are capable of doing to each other is sickening. I can only do so much until I have to move onto something else.
I wonder when I finally get this story done if it’ll end up getting published. Publishing is a hard thing to do but I guess that is a subject for another blog.
